Firefox 7 beta 4 for Apple PPC iMac/Macbook G3,G4 and G5

A brill move from the boys in Floodgap give us a sneak preview of the next Mozilla Firefox version labelled as 7.04

There are speed improvements due to reduced memory footprint but these are offset by other drawbacks, so overall, it’s a subjective notion of better speed. Any real improvement has come to us  courtesy of a revised graphics stack for our rendering pipeline of the G series chipset. A new HTML5 canvas backend becomes available as well.

Real downsides of this release are no plug-ins or add-ons, javascript stack requirements now jump from 64MB to 256MB, meaning we actually need an iMac or PPC system with a minimum of 512MB, preferably 768MB though due to other improvements in memory management, we’ll make better use of any unclaimed system memory.
